What’s in the room
Three tools. One focused appointment.
Plus targeted manual therapy. Used together or separately, based on what the assessment finds — not on a menu.
-
Dry needling / acupunctureDry needling
A fine needle into the tight band or trigger point, for a twitch and a change in tone — the tissue stops guarding.
-
ElectroacupunctureElectroacupuncture
A low-level current between needles — sustained stimulation for stubborn tone, deeper tissue, and nerve-related patterns.
-
Active Release Techniques (ART)ART
Tension held on the tissue while you move the joint through its range, so the restriction releases under movement.

Seven regions. One honest answer each about what a first visit usually looks like.

- Usually involves
- We re-check
- Then
- A four-week course is the usual shape — decided in the room, once we both know the plan.
Illustrative — what’s used is decided after your assessment, not before.
What a visit looks like
Assess. Treat. Re-check.
Forty-five minutes. You leave knowing what was done and why.
-
01
Tell me where it is
A focused history and a hands-on look at the problem you came in with — what provokes it, what eases it, what the tissue is doing.
-
02
Treatment, same visit
Whichever of the tools the assessment calls for, explained before it happens.
-
03
Re-check before you leave
The same movement or test, repeated. You see what changed — and we set what comes next from there.
Not a diagnosis — a direction. If what you need is outside this room, you’ll be told.

How care works here.
One first visit. Then a simple choice about how you continue. Nothing is sold before you’ve been seen.
- A focused history and hands-on assessment of the problem you came in with
- Treatment the same visit — needling, electroacupuncture, ART, as the assessment calls for
- A re-check before you leave, and the plan for what comes next
Step 2 · how you continue. Focused care usually takes about eight visits — twice a week for four weeks. Two ways to do them:
Flexible. Nothing reserved ahead; you decide each time.
Same eight visits, $200 less — because the calendar is yours and the cadence actually happens. Reassessment at week four.
Self-pay, prepayment model. You always book your next visit and pay up front — that’s how we work. Superbills on request for out-of-network benefits. A or B is chosen at the first visit, once we both know the plan; “about eight visits” is the usual shape of focused care, not a promise about how you’ll respond.
Who’s treating you

Aaron Avila treats every appointment himself — assessment, needling, hands-on work, re-check.

Before you book
Straight answers.
Is dry needling the same as acupuncture?
Same tool, different target. Dry needling puts a fine needle into a tight muscle band to change its tone. Here it’s performed by a licensed acupuncturist — the training the technique comes from.
Does it hurt?
Most people feel pressure more than pain. The twitch in a tight muscle is brief and a little odd — that’s the point of it. Some soreness the next day is common. You can stop at any time.
How many visits will I need?
Usually about eight — twice a week for four weeks, then we reassess. That cadence is where needling and hands-on work do their job; spread thin, they don’t. You can do the eight visit by visit ($100 each) or lock them in as the course ($600): same visits, reserved and prepaid, which is why it costs less. How you respond decides what happens at week four — not the calendar.
How is this different from the Resilient Protocol?
Focused care treats the problem in front of us. The Protocol starts with a full movement evaluation and runs 13 weeks for people who want the whole picture. Same clinician, same room — if you start here and need the bigger picture, you’ll be told.
